Choi Tae Kwon Do is dedicated to promoting individual growth through a non-competitive environment.
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that uses the hands and feet without weapons. The aim of Tae Kwon Do is total mind and body unity.
The first club to use the Choi Tae Kwon Do name was formed at the University of Wisconsin in Madison by Master Jack Nitschke and Master Carmen Alonso in 1998. Previously, they started and ran the Tae Kwon Do at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign club, a club with a much longer name.
As their students have spread out across the country, new clubs have been formed in cities from Seattle, Washington, to Long Beach, California, to Austin, Texas, and more. See the locations page for all the places where we train and where you can train with us.
Master Nitschke and Master Alonso are students of Master Anthony D’Amico who runs schools in the Massachusetts area. Master D’Amico is a student of Grand Master Ye Bong Choi.
